Adventure skyrockets your confidence

Adventure helps you build confidence when you successfully do something new and a little scary.

Years ago, I was invited to join a group of friends to hike Mount Washington. This isn’t an easy hike by any stretch. Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern US and boasts a world record for highest recorded wind speed. We went in August and it snowed for two days. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't take any of this seriously and I certainly didn't train properly. The result was almost a disaster. I'm still amazed the group didn't push me into the ravine.

The following year, the same group decided to hike the Grand Canyon. The group leader made it crystal clear they weren't helping me this time. Her exact words were "We will leave you if you can't keep up." The fear of failure drove me to train properly and treat this experience with respect.

This time I prepared so well that I led the group up and out of the Canyon on the last day. It instilled in me a confidence I still carry, and it’s the seed that grew into me leading groups of women on fun adventure trips.

Adventure is a great catalyst for powerful change. I'm putting the finishing touches on a new download that explores how adventure changes you and 37 ways to add more adventure to your life.
