Are you busy or are you accomplishing?

Jan 21, 2019

How are you? If you answered “BUSY” you are not alone. I can’t tell you how often I hear that reply. It’s practically a badge of honor in our culture to be busy. I have no clue why that is.

What I do know is there’s a huge difference between being busy and actually accomplishing. Isn’t it easy to reach for the low-hanging fruit on our lists, getting things done and checking them off? There’s something very satisfying about that.

The problem is we often trick ourselves into believing we’re accomplishing important things, when we’re really only knocking off tasks.

I know you’re busy, so I’ll keep this short. The best way to make the best use of your time is to ask yourself “What’s the most important thing I can do today?” Once you know the answer, do it. Don’t be tempted by all of the other shiny objects – go for the biggest, baddest, game-changingest item and knock it out of the park. Soon you’ll automatically look for the key tasks and naturally focus on them.

The first step to amplifying your life is simplifying your day.
