The good, the bad & the unexpected
Oct 17, 2024Our Camino journey continues to percolate for everyone. Like all big experiences, there were some great times, some not-so-great times and some stuff I didn’t see coming.
The GOOD 😃
It felt amazing to be back on the Camino! One of our group said: the Camino is like a living, breathing being. That is so true. On the first day, I walked one mile alone and it felt like reconnecting with an old friend. I was practically skipping because I was so happy to be back!
The bonding! I loved seeing everyone connecting. Since we spent so much time getting to know each other before we left, I knew the group would show up as friends not strangers.
We had so much FUN! Especially when it came to collecting sellos - the stamps that go in the pilgrims’ passport. It became like a sport. Every place has its own unique stamp and I think our group collected every single one.
The BAD 🙁
Happy to say there isn’t a lot of bad to report. We had some rain, which wasn’t any kind of deal-breaker. We had a few days of some not feeling well, but everyone rallied. Thanks to the commitment of the group and our amazing guides, we all did really well.
The UNEXPECTED 😳
I almost let go of my final vision. I had a dream that, at the very end, everyone in our group linked arms and walked into the plaza together. As we approached the plaza in real life, it was a little chaotic because of all the other people. While I really wanted to walk arm-in-arm, I finally said “Never mind.” Thank goodness for one of the other women who said “Let’s do it the way you envisioned! We can easily do that!”
And so we did.
Everyone’s back home now and I’m happy to say the group chatter continues! We’re sharing photos, stories and laughs. This was a big dream for each one of us, and together we made it happen. I’m so grateful. 💜
