TRUST is my secret weapon

Many business owners I know can lovingly be described as “control enthusiasts”. We know what we want and how we want to get there. 

What if that’s not the only way to be successful? Or even the best way?

My favorite learning from walking the Camino is learning to trust that things will always work out beautifully. On one of my days, I seriously considered starting two hours later than planned so I could stop at the grocery store to buy some fresh fruit & vegetables (Spain has a surprising disinterest in fresh produce and I needed to eat something healthy). After going back & forth with myself, I said “Trust that this will work out fine - just get walking!” 

Wouldn’t you know it, I came upon A FOOD TRUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. A random food truck loaded up with yummy, freshly-made hummus, cut veggies, fresh juices and fruit. I would’ve been happy with a single carrot. Instead, I got a bounty.

It’s fascinating that whenever I truly lean into trust, things work out even better than I could have imagined. It’s like I’m the limiting factor in my daydreams and the universe is showing me all that’s truly possible. 

Here’s another example: I’m planning a retreat for this fall (in Colorado from October 2- 6 - thanks for asking!)

I had everything in place pretty quickly, including the retreat chef. I’d asked several people if they could refer a chef to me and this was the only person who came my way. The story I told myself is that this was the best I could do. 

Just as I was getting ready to open registration, the chef backed out. 

After a moment of panic, I decided to trust. Which means I pause, close my eyes and really feel trust in my body. I turn the outcome over to whatever power is helping me and then I take the action I can take. 

This time I connected with my dream candidate. As we discussed the retreat, she came up with ideas to really elevate it. She drafted exciting menus that highlight local foods and businesses. She shared my excitement for the experience and showed me how it could be even better. 

All thanks to trusting. 

Why not give this a shot? You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. The next time you’re struggling to achieve an outcome, allow yourself to truly trust that it will work out even better than you can imagine. There’s a lot of universal magic that wants amazing things for us!
