I’m a big sing-in-the-car girl. My current favorite song? “Hopeless Wanderer” by Mumford & Sons.
Every time I hear it, I’m moved by these lines:
So when your hopes on fire
But you know your desire
Don't hold a glass over the flame
Don't let your heart grow cold
I will call you by name
I will share your road
I love that it acknowledges that you want something, but maybe you’re having trouble getting to it. That it can be easy to let things slip away from you, even your heart’s desire (why do we do this to ourselves?) It beseeches you to not put that flame out.
Then it delivers a beautifully simple solution:
I will share your road. I will walk with you.
Oh, yes.
