Your brain isn’t helping

May 14, 2026

Your brain is not actually great at solving your biggest problems.

I know. It’s a bummer.

Sure, your brain is designed to think. But sometimes it gets so busy thinking that it blocks the very clarity you’re trying to find.

Consider the last time you had a big question hanging over you. Something important you wanted to figure out.

What did you do?

You probably thought about it constantly. Maybe talked about it with friends or made lists. And if you’re anything like me, distracted yourself with laundry, Instagram, or Googling that actor from that one show because suddenly it felt urgent.

A few years ago, I found myself in exactly that place. I had some big questions about my life and no amount of thinking got me there. Which was frustrating because I’m smart! I have three degrees! None of which were any help to me at that point.

I wanted things to change. I just couldn’t figure out HOW.

You know when things changed? When I went for a walk.

In this case, it was a very long walk on the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

But it’s not the mileage that matters, it’s the movement.

Somewhere along the way, things started shifting. Not because I had it all figured out, but because walking changed the way I was processing everything.

Walking gets you out of your head and helps your body make sense of what your brain can’t on its own.

It helps your body and brain work together differently. It boosts creativity, lowers stress, improves cognitive function, and gets you out of that endless mental loop where you keep thinking the same thoughts over and over.

I stopped forcing answers.

I started noticing things.

And I started to hear solutions, in my voice.

That experience changed me so deeply that I created the Camino de Boulder Retreat - a chance to experience many of the same powerful elements of the Camino in Spain without needing a passport or two weeks off your calendar.

During the retreat, we’ll spend our days walking, connecting, eating good food, having meaningful conversations, and giving ourselves space to actually breathe and think clearly again. There will be guided walks, fun surprises, beautiful scenery, and a simple rhythm designed to help you reconnect with yourself and what’s next for you.

Because sometimes the next step forward doesn’t come from thinking harder.

Sometimes it comes from going for a walk.
