Powerful decisions, powerful results

Apr 24, 2025

Have you ever made a decision that was so crystal clear that it felt like the outcome magically appeared?

I have too. For the past couple of years, I’ve been exploring an abundance practice. The results are delightful.

It started with a trip to Denver (when I was still based in CT). I had an entire afternoon to myself, which I’d normally love, but instead I felt edgy and restless, with no idea what to do with the rest of my time. I realized I just wanted to be back in CT, which meant leaving a day earlier than planned.

This wasn’t simply an idea, it was a KNOWING. The moment I thought of leaving early is the moment I jumped into action. I quickly booked a flight that took off in 90 minutes (while I was still in my hotel room, about 40 minutes away from the airport 😬).  I booked an Uber, then texted other people to ask for help and support.

That’s all I did to get myself home. In return, the Universe / Providence / the Big Kahuna made it all happen.

—>  I got to the airport and through security in plenty of time (despite not leaving myself plenty of time)

—>  I was upgraded, then got the entire row to myself

—>  A really nice driver in a brand-new Lincoln picked me up

—> Everyone around me played a part, from my coach who cheered me on via text, the other passengers smiling and saying nice things to me as I walked down the aisle, the flight attendant giving me the entire basket of snacks (!) and getting as excited as I was about the Sun Chips

—>  Mother Nature put on a spectacular show just outside the airplane window as we flew over crazy-beautiful clouds, stunning Lake Michigan and a very peaceful Jamaica Bay

—> AND I got a refund from the hotel, despite their “no refunds for early departures” policy

Not only did I get back when I wanted to, I had a bigger, more beautiful, and richer experience than I ever expected.

Let’s be honest, this whole thing could have gone much differently. If I had stopped to think about it, I probably wouldn’t have even booked that flight. I definitely could have chewed off all my nails worrying about getting to the airport in time. I could have been crammed in the back of the plane, next to the bathroom, silently hating humanity.

Instead, I committed, I trusted, I moved and I asked for help.

Years ago, someone shared this quote with me:

The moment one commits oneself, then Providence moves too.

It is abso-freakin-lutely true.

This is just one of many examples of truly deciding upon something and it “magically” happening. In just the past few years, I’ve decided to move to Boulder and bought my dream house within 5 months. Before I first walked the Camino de Santiago, I decided to bring groups of women with me and now it’s a big part of the work I get to do.

And who can forget my decision to meet Keith Richards and it being even cooler than I thought it would be? 😁
